Tour Update April 30, 2022
The 2022 Tour will be going ahead. The registration fees will be the same as last year, $125 for artist registrations, $300 for gallery registrations, $500 for studio collectives.
Artist registration for the 2022 Open Studios Tour will be from May 15 2022 to June 7 2022. The application process will change slightly this year to make it a two step process. Artists must complete an application form and submit photos by June 7. Applications are reviewed and if approved you will be asked to make an online payment to complete your registration. The number of artists and galleries will be limited to 60. If we have more than 60 applicants these factors will be taken into consideration – whether the artist is actively volunteering, whether the photos meet the guidelines, order in which a correctly completed application and acceptable photos are received. We will not attempt to rank artists by artistic merit.
To prepare for your application you will need three photos of your artwork which meet our photo guidelines. The application form will ask for an artist statement of 750 characters or less written in the first person. It will also ask for an artistic summary, which is up to 60 characters in length. and is used on the online map.

Planning Meeting April 10, 2022
Washington County Art Alliance invites all artists and interested parties to attend a planning meeting at Golden Road Arts, 5459 SE Golden Rd, Hillsboro, OR 97123 on Sunday April 10th at 1pm. This is a chance to meet other artists and to influence our plans for 2022. If you wish to attend in person please RSVP via email to barbaramason45@gmail.com .The meeting will be outdoors if weather permits, otherwise indoors. Face masks are optional, please respect the choices of others.
Currently we are not on a trajectory to hold an in person open studios tour in October 2022. There are two reasons for this. The first reason is that I will be stepping down as chairman and am not planning on leading the next Open Studios weekend. The second reason is that we do not want to go ahead with all of the work and expense of registering artists and printing a catalog unless we are confident that the COVID pandemic is sufficiently under control. While the situation seems to be greatly improved I do not feel confident planning six months out. If anyone has ideas on how we can resolve these issues please bring those ideas to this meeting.
We do intend to continue our educational activities. In 2021 we mentored six students and we plan to continue this program in 2022. At this meeting we will discuss how the program worked last year and what changes we might make.
We would also like to expand our online presence in 2022. In 2021 we featured two artists in the online studios tour. Online studios is an opportunity for artists who for whatever reason would not be able to participate in an in person tour. This includes artists who for health or other reasons do not want large numbers of visitors in their home. It would also include artists who do not live in a house or apartment that is well set up for visitors or does not have adequate parking. We envisage more online events to take place periodically which could include short video clips and live interviews with the opportunity for the audience to ask questions. These could be paired with in person events.
For those who cannot attend in person we will be setting up a Zoom meeting which will allow you to hear the conversations and ask questions via the chat, your audio and camera will be turned off. This will be recorded. Here is the information:

2022 Open Studios Update
The time of year is approaching when we would normally start registration for the next Open Studios Tour. We are however caught up in an extremely unpredictable pandemic. While we all hope that the situation will be improved by October it is too early to make that call. We will not start registration just yet but may do so later in the Spring.
We are also looking at holding an online tour which would take place regardless of whether the in person tour happens. We have applied for a grant which would enable that to happen. We will post updates as they become available.
If you are interested in getting updates about the tour please use our contact form to ask to be added to our mailing list.
